The United Kingdom has one CAPLE exam center: the Portuguese Embassy at 11 Belgrave Square in London. It runs exams across the range, from the entry level up to the most advanced. What it is not listing this session is the CIPLE A2, which is the one most people looking at this page need. That leaves a specific question worth answering properly rather than guessing at, which is where you go instead and how far it really is.

What the London embassy is listing

The embassy runs CAPLE exams across most of the range. The one it is not listing this session is the CIPLE A2.

Where you can sit it instead

Paris is the useful answer. It is a Eurostar from St Pancras rather than a flight, you can do it without an airport, and for a lot of people in the south east it is a shorter door to door than somewhere in the north of England would be.

Most people end up sitting it in Portugal

If you are working towards Portuguese nationality you will probably be going to Portugal anyway, and pairing the exam with a trip you were already making is usually cheaper than treating it as its own journey.

There is a catch worth knowing before you book anything. Portugal has more CAPLE centers than any other country, and only a small number of them list the CIPLE A2 in a given session. Turning up in Porto or the Algarve and expecting to sit it locally is the mistake this site sees most often.

When nothing is bookable anywhere

CAPLE's registration pages show no date available far more often than people expect, and it is usually a phase rather than an ending. Between January and August 2026 we watched 157 sittings go unavailable before their registration deadline. 140 came back, and half of those gaps lasted under 25 hours.

What we have never seen is a sitting become bookable after its deadline had passed. So waiting is reasonable up to that date and pointless after it. The method, the sample size and the limits those figures carry are on what CAPLE's "no date available" actually means.
